Teflon®

 

DuPont’s Teflon® was originally a tetrafluoroethylene homopolymer. Nowadays the name, followed by a variety of numbers and initials, is applied to several different polymers, some of which are not based on TFE at all.

If a polymer is just named as Teflon you may assume it to be a homopolymer of TFE. For other types see the list below.

Note that "fluorinated ethylene-propylene" should be assumed to be a (non-fluorinated) BCP of TFE and hexafluoropropylene.
