RESEARCH FRONT NO. 6810 ANTIOXIDANT METABOLISM AND DEFENSE SYSTEM IN HIGHER PLANTS

As Lecturer at Annamalai University, Dr. Jaleel has years of teaching and research experience and expertise in modern biological science and agriculture including Horticulture, Gardening, Field Maintenance and Environmental Science with Phytopharmacology. He is well versed in modern laboratory techniques and analysis of phytochemicals and secondary metabolites.

He graduated from University of Kerala with a B.Ed. in Natural Science and holds a M.Sc. in Botany and M.Phil. in Medicinal Plant Physiology from Annamalai University. Dr. Jaleel holds a Ph.D. degree in Medicinal Plant Physiology from Annamalai University and his thesis was on Phytochyemical and antioxidant variations in Cathranthus roseus under treatment with plant growth regulators. He was the first to report findings that triazole fungicides can increase the secondary metabolite production in medicinal plants (Plant Science 2006, 171: 271-276).

Dr. Jaleel has both published papers in and been editor and reviewer of many international journals including Journal of Agriculture and Social Sciences, International Journal of Agriculture and Biology and EurAsian Journal of Biosciences. He has collaborated with a vast network of international research partners in countries such as China, Tunisia, Pakistan, Turkey, Cyprus, Nigeria, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

A member of Indian Science Congress, The Academy of Plant Sciences India, International Society for Ecological Communications and the Indian Botanical Society, Dr. Jaleel is also the Local Area Youth Wing Secretary of India’s National Service Scheme.
